Meet Our Board of Directors
The Hands of Kindness Board of Directors oversees decisions related to HOKCM’s mission. Stateside, they collaborate with the Ministry Director to ensure that each event and ministry aligns with HOKCM’s purpose. The board reviews and approves annual budgets, new ministry opportunities, and building projects. Board members and officers are invited, interviewed, and then approved by the current board; then serve on a rotational basis and may accept consecutive terms if they wish.

KATHIE BURGESS
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
At the outset of Hands of Kindness Children’s Ministry, Director Kathie invited a team of individuals to join her in carrying out the work of the ministry. Since its early beginnings, she set out to include others for ministerial accountability and to have others enjoy the blessings of the ministry. We are blessed to have Kathie as our ministry director and have her with us guiding our work and service.

STEVE BURGESS
CO-DIRECTOR, TREASURER
Steve is a lifelong native of Greenville, SC, and is the husband of our ministry director, Kathleen Burgess. Together, they enjoy their seven children and eleven grandchildren. When he’s not involved with his family, you might find Steve at Berea First Baptist Church where he has served their community in a variety of fellowship and leadership roles. Steve’s passion for serving Christ has allowed him to participate in mission trips to Tanzania, Uganda, Nicaragua, and Kentucky.

JAYNE MCCALL
BOARD PRESIDENT
I retired after 38 years with Hughes Development Corporation, spending a number of those years as project manager for construction developments in and out of South Carolina. Since that time, I have had the privilege to serve on the board for several years and am preparing for my third trip to Koreng, Uganda. The amazing miracles I have experienced through God's Hand for the ministry have been a life encouragement in faith. The powerful love received by the children and desire to do more to serve has been a life blessing.

Laurel is a new South Carolinian, but a long-time supporter of missions in Africa. She is the owner of a branding and communications agency, and can't wait to dive in and help the mission of Hands of Kindness Children's Ministry expand even further. REGINA RAY
SECRETARY
Regina traveled to Uganda in 2024 with HOKCM and intends to return. She has two children and four grandchildren. She is the owner of Evergreen Professional Services and a member of Locust Hill Baptist Church, where her husband, Andy, is the Director of Worship Arts. She participates with SC Baptist Disaster Relief and serves as a Warrant Officer in the South Carolina State Guard.

These two have been on multiple mission trips with HOKCM! Alice has a passion for art and face painting, especially when it comes to working with children.
